We finally got some snow here! It's very rare for this area, and it's been a long time since we've had a significant amount that you could actually play in, so it was about time we saw some of the white stuff. The kids could not have been more excited about it, even I was excited about it. I kept looking out the window all day friday to see if it was snowing yet since the weather man predicted 3-5 inches for us that day. I was hoping it would start earlier in the day so that the kids could go out and play in it before it got dark, but it actually didn't start snowing until the sun started to go down. It started off very slow. You could barely see it coming down, so I was beginning to think we weren't going to get that much after all, and the kids were going to be very disappointed with not enough snow to play in. However by around 7pm it started coming down pretty hard and had soon covered the ground. Anna and Noah kept running to the windows to stare out at it. They were so excited to finally see some snow here. At around 8 or 9pm we decided to bundle all the kids up in whatever winter gear we could find for them. We don't have any snowsuits, or winter boots, or big, thick gloves for them. There's not really a need for them normally, so we just had to layer them up and try to keep them as warm as possible. I'm so glad Anna was feeling better, so she was able to enjoy our one day of snow because you never know how long it's going to be until we have another one. Both Anna and Noah ran outside after we got them all ready and squealed and laughed with delight in their little winter wonderland. They gathered up snow and threw snowballs at each other and tried to make a snowman too. They weren't successful with the snowman though since neither me or daddy could help them. I was holding Grace the whole time, and Arron couldn't find his gloves. We stayed out as long as we could but my hands were so cold even with gloves on that they were starting to hurt, and I knew the kids had to be freezing too. Anna was not happy to have to go inside. She loved the snow so much she cried when we made her come in. I fixed everyone some hot chocolate to warm them all up, and then let Anna do some painting to make her happy since she couldn't play in the snow anymore.
It continued snowing on through the night but had stopped by morning and had left us with a beautiful blanket of snow on everything. It was about 3 or 4 inches. May not sound like very much to some, but for us it was a bunch. Before breakfast we all bundled up again and went out to enjoy all our snow before it started melting away. The first thing the kids did was run right out and fall in it so they could make snow angels. It was a good thing we went out early too because it melted fast. It was almost all gone by around noon. That afternoon and evening Anna kept asking to go outside and see the snow and play in it, but it was all gone by then.
