Noah's Surgery

Noah's surgery on his ankles went great on Tuesday. He handled it so well. We were very proud of him. We got to MUSC in Charleston at 9am that morning and got checked in for his outpatient surgery. We waited around in the waiting room for quite awhile, and poor Noah was getting hungry and thirsty since he was not allowed anything to eat or drink after midnight. They finally called him back, and Daddy went with him while I sat out in the waiting area with Anna. Noah played in the play area back there, and gave all the nurses check ups with the play doctors kit they had, but did not want to let the nurses do anything to him. He would not even let them get him undressed and into a gown. They gave him some medicine to drink though that would help relax him and make him forget most of what happened. It took some time, but Daddy finally coaxed him into drinking it. It didn't make him forget anything though. He remembers just about everything except the surgery which he was asleep for. They put him in a little wagon and wheeled him off to surgery, and Daddy came back out to the waiting area with me and Anna. The surgery did not take long at all, maybe about 30 or 40 minutes. Once they got him to sleep and could do some good x-rays, the doctor decided he only needed surgery on his right ankle. He put a plate and screws in that ankle to keep his foot from turning outward and hopefully eventually he will no longer need the brace on that leg thanks to this procedure. Daddy went back to see him in recovery, and he was quite grumpy and groggy when he woke up. The first thing he noticed after waking up was an I.V. in his arm, so he started yelling, "What's that in my arm? Get it out! I want it out!" He then tried to pull it out himself, so Daddy and the nurse had to hold him down and keep him from yanking it out. Then he noticed his foot felt funny, so he lifted it up to look at it and saw it all bandaged up, and started yelling again, "What's wrong with my foot? What's on it? Get it off!" He cried and whined a little bit after that and said his belly hurt, but once we got him out of there and into the car headed home he drifted off to sleep and slept the whole way home. By the time we got home and Daddy carried him into the house and laid him on the sofa to rest he had woken up and was pretty much back to his normal self. He was happy and fine and acted like nothing had happened. He never once complained about his ankle hurting him, and in no time he was hopping around the house to get where he wanted to go. I can't believe how well he did with this.

Two Days After Surgery
I don't want you to take off my bandage

No, don't take it off!!!

Yay, no more big bandage!

What a brave boy!

As you can see we took his bandage off today. He has never once complained about being in any pain. He didn't want us to touch his bandage though. He was afraid taking it off was going to hurt. He screamed and cried and fought us for awhile, but we finally got it off, and then all was fine. We put a little Star Wars bandaid over his stitches and gave him a cookie, and off he went hopping around the house again. In no time at all he was starting to put weight on it, and by the end of the day he was even running around the house at times. Nothing gets him down. He's already asking to go play putt putt golf and to go to Magiquest tomorrow. He's such a tough little guy.

Addicted to Magiquest

We have a place here at the beach called Magiquest. We took Noah there for the first time on Memorial weekend to see what it was like. We've now been there 3 times in the past month. We all love it. It's fun for the whole family. Noah gets his own wand, and you run around the castle and the dungeon and the treehouse searching for items for each one of your quests. There's little riddles to guide you in finding each one of the items and once you complete all of your quests you become a Master Magi and you get more quests to do. We all enjoy running around the place trying to find all the items from the clues in the riddles. This weekend Noah finished his quests and became a Master Magi and can now start the Master Magi quests. It seems like it would just be a place for kids to enjoy, but everytime we go we see big kids and little kids and grown men and grown women running around with their own wands trying to complete the quests. I finally remembered to take the camera with us this time when we went and actually use it so I got some I got some good pictures of Noah having fun at Magiquest.

Happy Father's Day!

It's Daddy's Day! We played golf again yesterday and had alot of fun. Noah was hilarious. He kept doing little dances all over the golf course. He's so silly, just like his Daddy. For Father's Day we had dinner at Carraba's, Daddy's choice, and it was very good. Then we went back to my mom's house for Daddy to open his present, and Noah helped. He got an outfit and some games. At the end of the day we took some pics of Daddy and the kiddies.

It's hard being a baby

Anna had her 4 month check up on Tuesday. Once again she got two shots in each leg, and she did not enjoy that one bit. She weighed 13 lbs. 8 ozs., so she's gained 2 lbs. 6 ozs. in the past 2 months, and she was 25.5 in. long this time, that's 2 in. longer. Her weight is in the 50th percentile so that's average for a baby her age, but her length is in the 97th percentile, so she's long for her age. What a big girl she's getting to be. She's sitting pretty good with a little support as you can see in the pictures below, and yesterday she started rolling over from her belly to her back.
All tuckered out after her shots

He did it

If she doesn't have her blankie to chew on, she'll just chew on her dress.

I just love to stare at my big brother

All curled up in a little ball

We gave carrots a try tonight. Not sure how much actually made it in her tummy. It looks like most of it is on her face and her bib.

I'm a big girl now!

Yep, she's growing up. Anna had her first taste of rice cereal this week. Despite the look on her face in the picture, she did seem to like it. Surprisingly. She's also sitting up well with support, and seems to prefer this position now. I think she's getting very close to rolling over too. When she's on her back in the play yard or crib she turns herself all around. You can lay her down with her head at one end, and then come back a few minutes later and her heads at the other end already, and she keeps rolling herself onto her side too. She just needs to push herself over just a little bit more now, and she'll be able to roll to her tummy. I don't think it will be too much longer. She seems like she's anxious to get on the move.

Bye Bye Preschool

Last week was Noah's last day of preschool. He's on his way to kindergarten now, and he can't wait. I took pictures of both his first and last day of school, and he looked so sleepy on his first day. He definitely was not used to getting up that early, but he adjusted quickly, and was all bright eyed on his last day of school.

They had field day and got their face painted on the last day of school. That was the most difficult face paint to get off, usually Noah smears it two seconds after the person is done putting it on him.

Memorial Weekend

Last weekend we took Noah to play putt putt golf for the first time. He really loved it, and for some reason he called it puff puff golf. He didn't do too bad for his first time, and he even got the ball in the hole in just two shots a couple times. We played the Dragon's Lair golf course at Broadway at the Beach, and when we were done we took Noah over to Magiquest to try that out. That was alot of fun also. Noah loved his magic wand and making it open treasure chests and other things. We all really enjoyed running around solving riddles to find the items needed for each quest. It was so much fun we went back again on Monday.
